Ingredient
- 3 tbsp (45 mL) butter
- 2 tbsp (20 mL) all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt
- 1 cup (250 mL) milk
- 1 cup (250 mL) grated Canadian Cheddar
- 3 eggs, separated
- 1/4 cup (50 mL) bacon bits
Preparatiion
- Béchamel sauce: Melt butter on medium heat in small saucepan. Add flour and salt, then add milk and stir until smooth. Add cheese and stir until melted. Add egg yolks, grated Canadian Cheddar cheese and bacon bits.
- Beat egg whites in a bowl at high speed until peaks are formed. Gently fold the egg whites into the béchamel. Pour the mixture into buttered ramekins. Pre-heat oven at 350 ºF (180 ºC) Place ramekins in oven. Bake for 7 to 8 minutes.
