Championship Chocolate Chip Bars

ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups (375 mL) all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) cold butter or margarine
  • 1 package (350g) (625 mL) CHIPITS Semi Sweet Baking Chips, divided
  • 1 can (300 mL) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon (15 mL) vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (250 mL) chopped nuts

Preparation

  1. Heat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Stir together flour and brown sugar in medium bowl; cut in cold butter until crumbly. Stir in 1/2 cup CHIPITS semi-sweet chips; press mixture on bottom of ungreased 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Bake 15 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, combine sweetened condensed milk, egg and vanilla in large bowl. Stir in remaining chips and nuts. Spread evenly over baked crust. Bake 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
