No-Fry Chocolatety Apple Beignets

ingredient

  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup icing sugar, divided
  • 4 squares (1/2 of 250-g pkg.) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 2 pkg. (235g each) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls

Preparation

  1. PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Cook apples and 2 Tbsp. of the sugar in small saucepan 7 min. or until apples are tender and liquid is absorbed. Spoon into bowl. Add chocolate; mix well.
  2. GENTLY separate dough into 16 triangles. Place 2 tsp. apple mixture in centre of each triangle. Fold triangle into packet to enclose filling; seal seams by pressing edges of dough together with fingertips. Place on baking sheet. Repeat for each triangle.
  3. BAKE 10 min. or until golden brown. Transfer to plate. Sprinkle with remaining 2 Tbsp. icing sugar. Serve warm.

Cooking Know-HowAlways bake crescent roll recipes in conventional oven. Crescents baked in the microwave won't brown and the insides will be doughy. Toaster ovens aren't recommended because they tend to be too small and they distribute heat unevenly.
